Gympie Market 18th April 2016
A very good quality yarding of 2104 cattle at Sullivan Livestock’s Gympie cattle sale held Monday 18th April, saw the market for all descriptions remain very firm. Cattle were drawn from Bundaberg, Maryborough, Aramara, Tiaro, Woolooga, Kilkivan, Kenilworth, Eumundi & all local areas.
Heavy feeders topped at $2.94 for Droughtmaster x steers from Don Law, Moy Pocket to return $1,279 & $1,274. Charbray heifers from A Templeton & Son, Bollier sold for $2.93 or $1,234 & $1,194, while Steers from their Eumundi Paddock sold for $2.92 or $1,306. Droughtmaster x steers from Elizabeth Pretorius sold for $2.92 ($1,271 & $1,259) & $2.90 ($1,261). Kewbourne Pty Ltd, Cedar Pocket sold Droughtmaster steers for $2.91 or $1,228. Braford steers from Nev Millard, Cedar Pocket sold for $2.91 or $1,414. Limousin x steers from Frank Kilmore, Langshaw sold for $3/kg to return $1,180. Charbray steers from Ted Fisher, Widgee sold for $3/kg or $1,006. Stuart & Linda Vollmerhausen sold very good quality Charbray steers 8 months for $3.43 or $1,103, while their Droughtmaster brothers sold for $3.13 or $1,073. Hereford x steers from John Murnane & Family, Wonga sold for $3.53 ($1,013) & $3.23 ($1,000). Quality Charbray steers from Michael Connolly “Emjay Charbrays” Goomeri sold for $3.35 or $979. Charbray steers from Geoff Bingham sold for $3.27 or $938. Charolais x steers from John Hall, Coondoo sold for $3.37 or $871 & their Brangus brothers made $3.31 or $899. Fitzgerald & Co, Kilkivan sold Droughtmaster steers for $3.30 or $889 & $883. Droughtmaster steers from Chris Black, Bells Bridge sold for $3.33 to return $943 & $760. Limousin x steers from D & M Knowles, Cooroy sold for $3.41 or $805. Droughtmaster steers from Carl Talbot sold for $3.41 or $735 while their younger brothers made $3.65 or $529. Overall better quality weaners generally sold from $3 to $3.41.
Feeder heifers topped at $2.85 for Charbray heifers from Neville & Lyndall Ensbey, Bergins Pocket to return $1,095. Charbray heifers from John Pike, Woolooga sold for $2.82 or $994. Droughtmaster heifers from Bill Kross, Gympie sold for $2.82 or $1,058. Most feeder heifers sold from $2.60 to $2.72. Quality Charbray weaner heifers from Brian & Pam Dray, Woolooga sold for $3.20 to return $918, $866, $784 & $758. Good conditioned weaner heifers generally sold from $2.75 to $2.85, while store types sold from $2.60 to $2.90.
