Sullivan Livestock yarded 1994 cattle at their Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday 25th May where the market was firm to dearer for all descriptions. Cattle were drawn from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Bauple, Aramara, Booubyjan, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Kenilworth, Maleny & all local areas.
Charbary steers from Jenny Bryant, Dagun sold for $2.59 ($1351) & $2.57 ($1216). Droughtmaster steers from Ray Heilbronn, Fisherman’s Pocket sold for $2.54 or $1243. Good quality Limousin x steers 20 months from Russell Kernke, Antigua, sold for $2.65 or $1071. Simmental x steers from the Corkin Family, Maleny sold for $2.63 or $1097. Charbray steers from McKenzie Land Developments, Mooloo sold for $2.62 or $985. Brangus steers from John Robertson, Maleny sold for $2.61 ($1052 & $1014) & $2.57 ($925). Droughtmaster steers from Bill Pukallus, Widgee sold for $2.57 or $941. Droughtmaster steers from Gary Shailer, Gunalda sold for $2.64 or $994. Rod & Cherie O’Rourke , Beaver Rock sold Droughtmaster steers for $2.64 ($984) while their weaner steers sold for $2.57 or $654. Weaner steers met spirited competition with Charbray steers from John & Joan Falconer, Widgee selling for $2.65 ($799). The Hewitt Family sold Charbray steers for $2.61 ($706). Simmental x steers from Pat & Melissa Kelly, Kilkivan sold for $2.61 ($760) & $2.56 ($721). Hereford x steers from the Finney Family, Manumbar sold for $2.60 to return $656. Droughtmaster steers from the Findlay family, Gunalda sold for $2.58 ($774) & $2.56 ($650). Droughtmaster steers from Ian Coulter, Conondale sold for $2.58 or $592. Dennis & Sue Billiau, Wonga sold Droughtmaster steers for $2.59 or $531. Generally weaner steers sold from $2.30 to $2.65.
Feeder heifers were limited in supply & quality selling to a top of $2.26. Limousin x heifers from Ross Gibbs, Widgee sold for $2.21 or $800. Droughtmaster x heifers from the Scholl Family sold for $2.14 or $859. Good conditioned vealer heifers sold to a top of $2.31 for Charolais x heifers from Rod Janke, Widgee selling for $762. Charbray heifers from Stuart & Linda Vollmerhausen, Theebine sold for $2.23 or $640. Simmental x heifers from Pat & Melissa Kelly sold for $2.21 to return $592, $575 & $569. Charbray heifers from John Williams, Widgee sold for $2.20 or $550. Brahman x heifers from David Ross, Glen Echo sold for $2.15 or $590. Droughtmaster heifers from Ian Coulter, Conondale sold for $2.16 or $487. Droughtmaster heifers from the Findlay Family, Gunalda sold for $2.16 or $557. Vealer heifers sold from $2.05 to $2.22, while plainer store types sold from $1.82 to $2.13.
