Sullivan Livestock yarded 2165 cattle at their Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday 13th February, where the market for stores was firm to dearer while meatworks cattle were slightly cheaper. Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Bundaberg, Maryborough,Kenilworth, Eumundi & all local areas.
Good quality Brahman x steers 2 years from the Yarrow family, Kilkivan sold for $1.94 to return $921. Charbray steers from Mulholland Pastoral Co sold for $1.91 or $908. Charbray steers 20 months from Vanlach P/L, Gunalda sold for $1.97 to return $828 & $790, while the Droughtmaster steers sold for $1.94 or $807. Droughtmaster x steers 20 mths from the Howard Family, Aramara, sold for $1.94 or $805. Droughtmaster x steers 20 months from Stuart Pastoral, Widgee, sold for $1.97 or $754. Good quality Droughtmaster steers 12 mths from Bill & Gladis Janke, Widgee, sold for $2.44 to return $747. Droughtmaster steers 12 months from Percy Bichel,Glastonbury, sold for $2.19 or $726. Feeder heifers were limited in supply & sold to a top of $1.96 for Charbray heifers 18 months from Bruce Flick, Gayndah returning $687, while his next pens sold for $1.93 to return $664, $648 & $652. High grade Brahman heifers 10 months from Royce & Beryl Sommerfeld, Beaver Rock sold for $2.30 to return $600. Jemville Pty Ltd, Durramcourt sold quality Droughtmaster heifers for $2.25 & $2.04. Good quality vealer heifers generally sold from $2.08 to $2.20.
A feature of the day was a draft of Charbray cows & calves from Shanmount Pty Ltd, Eumundi selling for $1430, $1330, $1200 & $1170. Droughtmaster x cows & calves from Geoff & Julie Chomley, Kandanga sold for $1,000. Brahman x cows & calves from Booubyjan sold for $990 & $920. The Jackson Family, Owanyilla sold Droughtmaster Cows & calves for $900 & Brangus cows & calves for $940.
