Gympie Sale 17th October 2016
A larger offering of 2009 cattle at Sullivan Livestock’s Gympie Cattle sale held Monday 17th October saw the market for all descriptions remain firm. Cattle were drawn from Childers, Bundaberg, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Aramara, Bauple, Woolooga, Kilkivan, Manumbar, Kenilworth, Manley and all local areas.
Brangus feeder steers from Billeroy Farms, Sexton sold for $3.60 or $1,738 while their lighter Droughtmaster brothers made $3.50 or $1,535. Droughtmaster x steers from Elizabeth Pretorius made $3.55 ($1,571 & $1,516). Charbray steers from Col Smith sold for $3.60 ($1,571) & $3.78 ($1,361). Quality Charbray steers from the Euston Family, Glastonbury sold for $3.68 ($1,480). While Charbray steers from Jeff & Wendy Klotz, Scotchy Pocket sold for $3.77 to return $1,423 & $1,414. Garglen Brahmans sold F1Charbray steers for $3.86 to return $1,282, while their weaner brothers made $4.24 or $1,086. Charbray steers from N & C Zahner, Bundaberg sold for $3.71 ($1,209). Westonvale Livestock sold Droughtmaster steers for $3.67 ($1,237). Droughtmaster weaner steers from Ivy Carter, Belli Park sold for $4.06 ($1,147). Quality Droughtmaster x steers from Craig Dakin, Gunalda sold for $4.22 ($1,209), while their Brahman x brothers made $3.78 ($1,174). Charbray steers from P & J Elmer, Amamoor made $4.19 ($1,178). Droughtmaster weaner steers from Kent Hammond, Fisherman’s Pocket sold for $4.30 ($1,128). Droughtmaster steers from Dennis & Sue Billiau, Lower Wonga sold for $4.38 ($1,027). Charbray weaner steers from Russell & Debbie McEwan, Cooran sold for $4.25 ($986). Patterson Pastoral sold Droughtmaster steers for $4.33 ($853). Weaner steers generally sold from $3.80 to $4.38 pending weight & quality.
Charbray heifers from Jeff & Wendy Klotz sold for $3.57 or $1,198. N & C Zahner, Bundaberg sold Charbray heifers for $3.52 or $1,146. Brangus heifers from John Crossley, Widgee sold for $3.50 ($1,207), while their Droughtmaster sisters sold for $3.43 ($1,121). Braford heifers from the Webster Family, Goomboorian sold for $3.56 or $1,132. Brangus weaner heifers from Brad Collett, Kilkivan sold for $3.64 or $1,092. Charbray heifers from R & D McEwan sold for $3.82 ($862). Quality Droughtmaster weaner heifers from Kent Hammond sold for $3.92, $1,103 & $947. Droughtmaster x heifers from Rob Shepherd, Calico Creek sold for $3.86 ($939). Droughtmaster x heifers from Gordon Collard, Wonga sold for $3.88 ($916). Good conditioned vealer heifers generally sold from $3.55 to $3.71, while store types sold from $3.50 to $3.92 pending quality.
Cows & Calves sold to a top of $1,600 but generally selling from $1,100 to $1,550.
