GYMPIE CATTLE SALE 7th April 2014

Sullivan Livestock yarded 1694 cattle at their Gympie Cattle sale held Monday 7th April where the market was dearer for most descriptions with the exception of plainer lighter heifers and lesser quality cattle. Cattle were drawn from Bundaberg, Maryborough, Tiaro, Bauple, Aramara, Woolooga, Goomeri, Tansey, Conondale, Kenilworth, North Arm and all local areas.

Charolais steers 2 years from the Gruar family sold for $1.68 to return $761. Droughtmaster X steers 2 years from Rod Winter, North Arm sold for $1.63 & $1.62 to return $727 & $682. Limousin X steers from Murray Hickmott sold for $1.63 or $709. The Hebbermann family, Maryborough sold three decks of Brahman X steers 20 months – 2 years selling for $1.65, $1.64, $1.62, $1.62, $1.63 & $1.65.  Droughtmaster steers 20 months from Dennis Banks, Woolooga sold for $1.67 or $663.  Droughtmaster steers from the Wright family sold for $1.73 to return $692.  Droughtmaster steers from the Robert family, Peachester sold for $1.72 ($686) & $1.75 ($611).  Santa steers from Neil Callow, Kybong sold for $1.71 or $603.  Charbray steers from Rozynski Enterprises sold for $1.71 to return $536, $494 & $479.  Charolais X steers 8 months from Paul Elmer, Amamoor sold for $1.70 or $500.  Droughtmaster weaner steers from David & Elizabeth Allomes, Miva Homestead sold for $1.77 ($423) & $1.76 ($368).  Droughtmaster steers from Percy Bichel, Glastonbury sold for $1.69 or $352.  Generally better quality weaner steers sold from $1.45 to $1.77 with the second run selling from $1.15 to $1.40.

Quality Droughtmaster heifers 18 months from the Bower family, Tiaro sold for $1.62 or $579.  Charbray heifers 16 months from Nancy Fleiter, Conondale sold for $1.66 or $591.  Charbray X heifers 12-14 months from Mrs Carol Nugent, Curra sold for $1.53 or $485 & $1.45 or $384.  Brahman heifers 16 months from Craig & Samantha Kelly, Lower Wonga sold for $1.53 or $508.  Brahman heifers from Stuart Ross, Widgee sold for $1.40 or $421.  Charbray heifers 8 months from Geoff Wagstaff,  Conondale sold for $1.44 or $422.  Better quality heavy vealer heifers sold from $1.30 to $1.45.  Lighter better conditioned heifers sold from $1.00 to $1.28, while plainer store types sold from $0.65 to $1.00.

Only a handful of Cows & Calves were yarded selling to a top of $510.
