Gympie Cattle Sale

WEANERS $2.12 AT GYMPIE

Sullivan Livestock yarded 1669 cattle at their regular fortnightly Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday 1st March, where the market remained firm for all descriptions with the exception of better quality weaner steers which were dearer. Cattle were drawn from Bundaberg, Maryborough, Brooweena, Kilkivan, Kenilworth, Conondale & all local areas.

Topping the day was good quality Charbray steers 2 years from Graeme Moore selling for $1.92 to return $943 & $886. Jason Johnston, Kenilworth sold Charbray steers 2 years for $1.89 or $915 & Droughtmaster x steers for $1.84 or $802. The Campbell Family, North Deep Creek sold European x steers 20 months for $1.89 or $774. The Roberts Family, Sandy Creek sold Charolais x steers 18 months for $1.88 or $784. Jan Mulholland & Family, Widgee Crossing sold Charbray steers 16 months for $1.86 to return $678. Limousin x steers 12 months from Robin Wade sold for $1.84 to return $473. Hereford x steers 10 months from Fitzgerald & Co, Kilkivan sold for $2.06 to return $511 & $482. Westonvale Livestock, Chatsworth sold Charbray steers 8 months for $2.12 or $504. The Euston Family, Glastonbury sold Charbray steers 8 months for $2.11 ($501). Droughtmaster steers 8 months from Des Beutel, Sandy Creek sold for $1.98 or $454. Generally weaner steers sold from $1.70 to $2.12.

Feeder heifers were limited in supply and quality and sold to a top of $1.70 but generally sold from $1.50 to $1.65. Weaner heifers sold to a top of $1.83. Bart Edwards, Jones Hill sold Limousin x heifers 6 months for $1.82 or $426. Ted & Vicki Lawler, Kia Ora sold Droughtmaster heifers 6 months for $1.80 or $412. Better quality weaner heifers sold from $1.58 to $1.83.

Cows & Calves sold to a top of $795 for Charbray cows & calves from the Hungerford Family with most cows & calves selling from $600 to $795.

Quality cows & calves were in short supply and sold to a top of $800. Generally cows & calves sold from $620 to $750.

Meatworks cattle sold on a fully firm market going on last weeks improved rates.

Pig & Calf Sale Wednesday 24th February 2010

Sullivan Livestock yarded 327 calves to sell on a firm market for all descriptions.

Prime Calves: 6 wks $136 - $184; 10 wks $174 - $232; 3 - 4 mths $232 - $332; 5 - 7 mths $318 - $465. Dairy Calves: $10 - $86; 2 – 4 weeks to $130. Pigs: Stores $48 - $94; Light Pork $71 - $102

Next sale – Wednesday 3rd March. CURFEW 10 am


  • ALL BUYERS MUST REGISTER FOR A BUYER NUMBER PRIOR TO START OF SALE.

  • Receivals from 7 am to 10 am

  • Public Access to the yards from 10.30 am

  • Sale of Pigs will commence at 10.45am followed by Sale of Calves immediately after. (approx 11 am)

  • All underweight & dairy farmer's calves will be sold 1st

  • Calves not to exceed 120 cm in height

  • All calves over 100kg liveweight must be branded

  • Dairy FarmersPlease check DPI regulations before consigning bobby calves.
